Mass. Democrats urge EPA to act after Merrimack River sewage leak
A regionwide crisis is spurring calls from the Massachusetts congressional delegation for federal investment.
Ripples are still being felt from a massive sewage spill in the Merrimack River, shuttering beaches and halting shellfish operations. Some Democratic leaders in the state are urging the Trump administration to act.

"This was a true regional disaster," said Rep. Seth Moulton.
"They can't shoulder these costs alone," said Rep. Lori Trahan.
She added that she's seeking "long-term funding to replace aging water infrastructure, rapid response dollars for emergencies like this one and restored grant funding."
Trahan and Moulton wrote a letter to Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin.
"Lori and I did work with him in the House, so we're hoping to at least be able to have a conversation and plead our case," Moulton said.
