Rep. Keating Faces Challenger in Democratic Primary for U.S. House

PROVINCETOWN — For the first time in eight years, Democratic voters on Sept. 1 here will have a choice of who to nominate for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Rep. Bill Keating, a Bourne Democrat who has represented Cape Cod for 16 years, has a challenger in Craig Swallow, a former New Bedford restaurant manager and teacher who has never held public office.
Keating, 73, was first elected to the Massachusetts 8th District seat in 2010. After redistricting drew his Quincy home into Rep. Stephen Lynch’s district, he moved to Bourne and ran in 2012 for the Massachusetts 9th District, which includes the Cape & Islands, most of the South Coast, and the South Shore up to Cohasset.
He last faced a primary challenger in 2018, handily defeating Bill Cimbrelo of Barnstable in that race.
