Maryland police agencies get federal grants for equipment
Tens of thousands in federal grants will support initiatives and equipment upgrades for several Maryland law enforcement agencies.
U.S. Rep. Andy Harris, R-District 1, on Tuesday announced that $91,069 in grants will come from the U.S. Department of Justice's Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
"These grants will help law enforcement agencies across Maryland's First District invest in the equipment officers use every day — from communications systems and investigative technology to emergency response equipment and protective gear — so they can better protect the people and communities of Maryland's First District," Harris said in a statement.
The Harford County Sheriff's Office is set to receive $32,639 to establish a Real-Time Crime Center for real-time intelligence and investigative technology.
