Maryland House incumbents are winning their primaries, but will still face opposition

WASHINGTON (7News) — All eight of Maryland's seats in the House of Representatives are up for grabs, and many incumbents are already projected to win against rivals within their own party.

That doesn't mean they're completely in the clear. So far, all races involving incumbents will be contested by a candidate from the opposing party.

Rep. Andy Harris, Maryland's only GOP congressman, was declared by the Associated Press as the projected winner of the 1st Congressional District. He will need to face the winner of the Democratic primary, which currently has four candidates.

Democratic Rep. Johnny Olszewski of the 2nd Congressional District secured his seat against one other democratic competitor and will go on to face Dave Wallace in the General elections.

In the 3rd Congressional District, Democrat Rep. Sarah Elfreth is expected to face off against Republican Berney Flowers.
