Elfreth announces $6M for priorities in Anne Arundel County
Anne Arundel County community projects are getting new federal funding.
U.S. Rep. Sarah Elfreth, D-District 3, announced on Monday that $6 million is earmarked for Annapolis to fund critical community projects.
The money will go to the Annapolis Police Department for a new public safety command center.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources will receive help in its fight against invasive species, like blue catfish. Elfreth urged Marylanders to eat blue catfish when they see it on restaurant menus, saying it's delicious and eating it helps the Chesapeake Bay.
The Anne Arundel County Community Action Agency is also getting funding for re-entry and rehabilitation programs.
The congresswoman called the funding an investment in people.
"To make sure persons returning to our communities have the most opportunities to succeed — job training, financial literacy — to make sure they and their families can thrive after returning to our community," Elfreth said.
