Kweisi Mfume wins Democratic nomination for Maryland's 7th Congressional District

MARYLAND (WBFF) — Kweisi Mfume has won the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in Maryland's 7th Congressional District.
Baltimore City Councilman Mark Conway challenged Mfume for the nomination, in a seat he has held since 2020.
Mfume beat Conway by about 56 percentage points, according to the Associated Press.
Mfume was born and raised in Baltimore and attended Morgan State University, according to his campaign website.
He served on the Baltimore City Council from 1979-1986.
From 1987-1996, Mfume served as a congressman until he resigned to take the CEO position for the NAACP until 2004.
In 2020, he was elected by special election to fill the vacancy of U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings, who died. Mfume was then reelected to Congress three more times.
