Incumbent Kweisi Mfume (D) defeated Mark Conway (D), Tashi Davis (D), and Theo Gillespie (D) in the Democratic primary for Maryland's 7th Congressional District on June 23, 2026. As of May 2026, Mfume and Conway led in fundraising and local media attention.

Local radio station WBAL's Katarina Hein said the race "is expected to center on experience versus new leadership in Baltimore’s representation in Washington." Local radio station WYPR's John Lee said Conway "feels [Mfume's] not doing enough to both confront President Trump and deal with issues from people’s energy bills to mental health ... he hopes to tap into growing disenchantment within the Democratic party."
