Chellie Pingree talks new details in fatal ICE-involved Biddeford shooting
BIDDEFORD -- Following up on a hearing Monday in southern Maine, Congressional District 1 Representative Chellie Pingree called for accountability in the shooting of a young father in Biddeford by an ice officer.
According to Pingree, the target was someone else entirely.
Pingree reiterated in that hearing that 25-year-old Columbian national Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero was not who ICE was targeting.
She says in fact it was his roommate that ICE officers were targeting. The roommate was the owner of the car Durán Guerrero was driving when he was shot and killed by ICE.
Pingree said Durán Guerrero did not have a final removal order, but he did have a valid work permit in the U.S. and a pending asylum case.
Durán Guerrero was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs enforcement agent near his Biddeford home in a car on July 13. Pingree called the discovery a shocking revelation and clear contradiction to what ICE" and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are saying.
