South Berwick lawmaker files to challenge Chellie Pingree in 2026 primary
A Democratic lawmaker from South Berwick has filed campaign finance paperwork to challenge U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree in the 2026 primary.
Tiffany Roberts is serving her fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives and said previously that she was exploring a run against Pingree to see if voters wanted another option.
Pingree, of North Haven, was first elected to represent Maine’s 1st District in 2008 and has not faced a primary challenger in any of her reelection campaigns.
“I’m exploring this race because we have become a country that is stuck in gridlock, while Mainers are left waiting,” Roberts said in September. “We deserve a representative who delivers, not just talks about change. We deserve leadership rooted in accessibility, accountability and results.”
