Bergman files nominating petitions, confirming reelection bid
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Congressman Jack Bergman (R-1st District) announced Friday that he has filed nominating petitions, confirming that he will be running for reelection ahead of the August 4 primary.
Bergman has served as the Congressman from Michigan’s 1st District since 2017, when he succeeded Dan Benishek, who decided not to run for reelection in 2016. The district contains portions of the northern Lower Peninsula and all of the Upper Peninsula.
“I’m forever grateful to the Bergman Brigade for continually putting their confidence in our grassroots campaign for Congress,” Bergman said in a Friday press release. “Today, we filed the signatures necessary to officially put us on the ballot in August.”
Bergman has received endorsements from President Trump as well as several other Michigan legislators.
