JUST IN: Ambrose wins Democratic primary for 2nd Congressional District

Ben Ambrose won Tuesday’s Democratic primary for Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District, defeating Jamie Hill and Clyde Welford.
According to unofficial results compiled from county clerks, all 382 precincts within the 20-county district had reported. Ambrose received 32,439 votes, or 44.3% of the votes cast for the three named candidates.
Hill finished with 30,946 votes, or 42.3%, while Welford received 9,802 votes, or 13.4%. Ambrose defeated Hill by 1,493 votes, a margin of approximately 2 percentage points.
Ambrose carried 11 of the district’s 20 counties: Barry, Clare, Ionia, Isabella, Kent, Manistee, Mason, Mecosta, Muskegon, Oceana and Wexford.
Hill carried Eaton, Gladwin, Gratiot, Lake, Midland, Montcalm, Newaygo, Osceola and Ottawa counties. Welford did not carry a county.
