John Moolenaar wins GOP nomination for US House in Michigan's 2nd district

John Moolenaar won the Republican nomination for U.S. House in Michigan's 2nd Congressional District.

According to Tuesday’s primary election unofficial results, Moolenaar won the U.S. House in Michigan's 2nd Congressional District race and is set to face Democrat Jerry Hilliard in November.

In Manistee County, Moolenaar had 2,274 votes. Overall in the district, Moolenaar had 71,779 votes.

In Manistee County, Hilliard had 2,312 votes and was uncontested. Districtwide, Hilliard had 36,056 votes.

Moolenaar ran against fellow Republican Thomas Norton who had 38,463 votes districtwide.

The new 2nd district includes all or part of 20 counties, including all of Manistee and Mason counties.
