GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — U.S. Rep. Hillary Scholten, D-Mich., kicked off her reelection campaign Saturday morning, choosing America's 250th birthday as the backdrop for an announcement at the same Grand Rapids park where she first launched her congressional bid six years ago.
"250 years and we are still standing," Scholten told a crowd of supporters. "The great American experiment is well underway, and I am in the fight for its future."
Scholten, a Democrat who flipped Michigan's 3rd Congressional District in 2022 to become the first woman in history to represent West Michigan in Congress, said she is running on a record of delivering for her constituents — and is ready for what she expects to be a competitive race.
