Bill Huizenga, Sean McCann to battle for U.S. House's 4th District seat

KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The race for the U.S. House of Representatives' fourth district seat is set.

Incumbent Bill Huizenga (R) faces state senator Sean McCann (D - MI-19) after both won their respective primary races by considerable margins on Tuesday night.

Huizenga defeated Holland mayor Phil Tanis with nearly 85% of the vote, while McCann defeated challenger Diop Harris II with nearly 66% of the vote.

Both candidates for the House seat are running on lowering costs for Michigan families, but both say the other is making that difficult.

McCann wants to make things affordable for Michiganders and give them accessible healthcare.

"I represent a chance to bring about change in Washington, D.C., and I represent a record that shows that I've always fought my entire life and career to help regular folks get ahead," McCann told News Channel 3.
