Dingell and Smiley win primaries in Michigan's 6th District

U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell, D-Mich., and Republican Heather Smiley secured their parties’ respective nominations Tuesday after running unopposed in Michigan’s 6th Congressional District primary elections.

Congressional District 6 includes all of Washtenaw County, parts of Wayne and Oakland counties and the city of Milan in Monroe County.

Dingell has served as a U.S. representative since 2015, and has represented District 6 since 2023 following the state’s redistricting by the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. Dingell’s platform has centered on lowering everyday costs for working families, expanding healthcare access and environmental protection.
