Michigan's 6th congressional district, centered around Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County and stretching into western and southern Wayne County, has a Cook Partisan Voter Index of D+12, and the general election is rated not competitive. Yet there is a primary battle underway on the Democratic side, along with a Republican primary as well, on Tuesday, August 4.

Incumbent Rep. Debbie Dingell has represented the district since 2015, continuing a family legacy of political representation in the Detroit area dating back to 1933. She raised approximately $880,000 in the 2025–2026 election cycle.

Her Democratic challenger, Jason Cloutier, is an Air Force veteran who has over 10 years of service industry experience and more than eight years working with Fortune 500 companies. Cloutier brands himself as "not a career politician" who has "lived a diverse life, failed and succeeded, and brings a deep understanding of everyday struggles."
