Who's who: Learn more about the names on the August primary ballot
Election season is fast approaching, starting with the August primary. Huron County residents can expect ballots with candidates for open local offices, governor, state House representatives, state senators, U.S. representatives and U.S. senators.
This guide introduces the candidates on your primary ballot, including how candidates at the state and national levels compare on issues of education, environment, health care and immigration.
Michigan is an open primary state, meaning residents do not have to be registered members of a political party to vote in that party’s primary.
Residents must be registered to vote to participate in the primaries. The deadline to register to vote by mail or online is July 20. After that, new voter registrations will be required in person from July 21 to Aug. 4. More information on registration can be found on the Michigan Secretary of State website.
Voting takes place Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Early voting sites and hours vary by community.…
