Emmer declares victory in 6th District GOP primary

U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer declared victory Tuesday night in the Republican primary for Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District, holding a commanding lead over challengers Mike Foley and Chris Corey.
With 95 of 276 precincts reporting as of 8:57 p.m., Emmer had received 20,260 votes, or 82%, according to unofficial results from the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office.
Foley followed with 3,572 votes, or 14.5%, while Corey had received 865 votes, or 3.5%.
“Jacquie and I are blessed for the resounding support and trust of voters across the Sixth District,” Emmer said in a statement issued shortly before 9 p.m. declaring an “overwhelming victory.”
