Fischbach, Osberg clash over tariffs, USDA shakeup in Farmfest candidate forum
MORGAN, Minn. — U.S. Rep. Michelle Fischbach and Erik Osberg, the DFL-endorsed candidate seeking the Minnesota 7th District seat she now holds, both agreed that farmers need stability. But they spent the next hour of a candidate forum Tuesday disagreeing about what is standing in the way.
Fischbach, a Republican from Regal, and Osberg, of Wadena, shared starkly different views on tariffs, trade and USDA reorganization as they shared the stage with 6th and 8th district candidates and answered questions from moderator Don Wick of the Red River Farm Network during the forum in the Wick Buildings Farmfest Center at the Gilfillan Estate during the first day of Minnesota Farmfest.
Rep. Pete Stauber, R-Hermantown, and DFL-endorsed challenger Trina Swanson answered for the 8th District, Democrat Doug Chapin for the 6th District. Rep. Tom Emmer, who represents the 6th Congressional District, did not attend; Fischbach said he was sorry to miss it.
