Cliff Johnson and Scott Colom win democrat primary; will face Republicans Trent Kelly and Cindy Hyde-Smith
Incumbent U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith easily won her primary bid for re-election and will face off against Scott Colom, who won the democratic primary in a three-way race. Cliff Johnson emerged the winner in the democrat primary for the District 1 U.S. House of Representatives seat and will take on incumbent Trent Kelly.
Voters in DeSoto County went to the polls on Tuesday to select candidates for the U.S. Senate and House seat in the 2026 midterm elections. According to the unofficial results, 14,335 voters out of 131,265 or 10.92 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the primary.
