Voters to decide party November standard bearers in newly redrawn congressional districts 1 & 3
GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - On the ballot today are two newly drawn congressional districts in Eastern Carolina, and voters will determine who will represent Democrats and Republicans heading into a consequential November Midterm Election.
Voters will be voting from among five candidates in the Republican primary for the 1st Congressional District.
This newly formed district, currently represented by incumbent Democratic Representative Don Davis, aims to give Republicans an advantage at wrestling the seat away.
The Republican primary candidates are Laurie Buckhout, Asa Buck, Bobby Hanig, Ashley-Nicole Russell, and Eric Rouse.
The winner will face Davis, as well as Libertarian candidate Tom Bailey in November.
In the 3rd Congressional District Democratic Primary, Allison Jaslow and Raymond Smith are battling it out.
The winner of this race will take on incumbent Republican Representative Greg Murphy and Libertarian Daniel Cavender in November.
