Heide Trask High School student wins congressional art competition
WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - A Heide Trask High School senior is heading into graduation week with a major honor: Jazmin Morales won the Congressional Art Competition for North Carolina’s 7th Congressional District.
Morales’ piece, Freedom Feathers, was selected from entries submitted by high school students who live or attend school in the district. Artwork was judged by a panel from the Cameron Art Museum.
“The annual Congressional Art Competition showcases the extraordinary talent, creativity, and dedication of students across North Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District,” Congressman David Rouzer said. He called Morales’ winning piece “a remarkable reflection of both artistic skill and meaningful expression.”
As the district winner, Morales’ artwork will be displayed for one year in the Capitol Visitor Center’s Cameron Tunnel in Washington, D.C. She will also have the opportunity to attend a reception in Washington recognizing the winners. Southwest Airlines will provide round-trip…
