The North Carolina Republican Party’s 11th Congressional District Executive Committee selected state Rep. Jennifer Balkcom Monday night as a replacement candidate after incumbent U.S. Rep. Chuck Edwards withdrew following a U.S. House Ethics report.
The meeting took place less than a week after Edwards dropped out early Wednesday morning. Last Monday, the U.S. House Ethics Committee recommended his censure for inappropriate conduct toward two young women who worked in his office.
