HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Republican Congressional nominee Jennifer Balkcom is wasting little time getting her campaign underway after securing her party’s nomination Monday night.

She was the pick to replace Rep. Chuck Edwards, who withdrew from his re-election campaign after the U.S. House Committee on Ethics recommended a censure, following allegations of sexual misconduct with some of his staffers. Balkcom will be going up against Democrat Jamie Ager for the N.C. 11 seat in Congress.
With just 84 days to campaign before Election Day on Nov. 3, political insiders say Balkcom faces two immediate challenges: Introducing herself to voters across the district and raising enough money to compete in a fast-moving Congressional race.
