Hudson County Democrats Win Clean Sweep in 2026 Primary
Hudson County Democrats closed out Tuesday’s 2026 primary with a clean sweep, led by Rep. Rob Menendez’s commanding 8th Congressional District win and Alex Valdez’s victory in the county’s only contested commissioner race. Across nine commissioner districts and a full slate of county and local races, the Hudson County Democratic Organization’s Unity ticket emerged without a contested loss.
The results set the party’s general election lineup for November, when one U.S. Senate seat, three House seats, and all nine commissioner districts head to the fall ballot.
Rep. Rob Menendez won the Democratic primary in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District on Tuesday with approximately 70% of the vote against challenger Mussab Ali, setting up a November campaign to help the Democratic Party recapture the House of Representatives.
