$125K grant from Rep. Nellie Pou will keep Kearny Prevention Coalition funded for next year
The Kearny Prevention Coalition — via U.S. Rep. Nellie Pou — has been awarded a $125,000 grant to continue the work the coalition has done over the last nine years.
The federal award comes through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Drug-Free Communities Support Program. The funding will support the Kearny Prevention Coalition Drug-Free Communities Support Project over the coming year. The grant is a continuation of federal support for the program, whose current project period runs through September 2027.
“Preventing substance use starts with strong communities and making sure our young people have the support they need,” Pou said. “This $125,000 federal award will help the Kearny Prevention Coalition continue its vital work with young people and families. I am proud to have helped secure this funding and will keep fighting to bring federal dollars home to Kearny and communities across our district.”
