Kearny's Youth Drug Prevention Coalition Lands $125,000 Federal Award

U.S. Rep. Nellie Pou (D-NJ-09) has announced a $125,000 federal award for the Kearny Prevention Coalition, funding that flows through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Drug-Free Communities Support Program. The money supports the coalition's ongoing work to reduce substance use among young people in Kearny. The grant's current project period extends through September 2027.

The award was administered by the CDC's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control. It continues a line of federal backing the Kearny Prevention Coalition has previously received under the same program.

The Drug-Free Communities Support Program directs federal dollars to community coalitions across the country working to prevent and reduce youth substance use. In Kearny's case, the money sustains the coalition's programming for local young people and their families.
