Empire State of Mind: Key New York Races #1

Get ready with an Empire State of mind for the next two entries because New York is the focus of them. There was one area of the country that largely resisted the outstanding results of November 2025, and Long Island was that place. Even the rest of New York state joined in on the fun but local races on Long Island were basically a Republican sweep. It’s the one area where electing the DSA leftists next door *really* hurts the cause.
Today, three Long Island House of Representative races are on tap. New York-1 is on the periphery of the big board because the incumbent seems entrenched and it was the largest Trump victory on the island (except for the safe New York-2). New York-3 has a loudmouth centrist incumbent that we need to win in order to have any sort of majority. New York-4 has an incumbent that matches said loudmouth centrist in voting patterns but not in demeanor.
