It’s time to leave the confines of New York City far behind and travel to Upstate New York for this article. There are a smattering of blue areas and quite a few deep red areas in this region of the state which has travelled to the right since the Obama era ended. This is another area where electing DSA leftists in the flagship city hurts our cause. Moderation above all else is key to winning seats in the region and that won’t change any time soon.
Today, three Upstate New York races in the House of Representatives are being featured. A moderate Republican holds down New York-17 and will be tough to dislodge. A moderate Democratic incumbent holds New York-19 and is well positioned to be voted back into Congress. New York-21 is a bit of a reach but a hated GOP challenger could make this district worth looking at.
