Meet the candidates running for Ohio's 8th District

Cincinnati Cincinnati Enquirer · October 1, 2026

U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson, a Republican from Troy, will face West Chester Democrat Vanessa Enoch in November.

In fact, it's the fifth election in a row Enoch will challenge Davidson in the 8th District, which – under new maps for this election –stretches from the city of Cincinnati's borders north to the farmlands in Darke County.

Rematches in House races aren't unusual; there were dozens in 2024. In Ohio alone, this November will feature a nationally-watched rematch in the Toledo area. But a full decade of the same race is rare.

Where is Ohio's 8th District?

The district encompasses Darke and Preble counties, most of Butler County and portions of Miami and Hamilton counties, according to Dave's Redistricting. If you live in Forest Park, Wyoming, Sharonville or Blue Ash, you may live in the 8th District. Voters can check here on the Ohio Secretary of State's website.

Who is Warren Davidson?

Davidson was first elected to Congress in 2016. He was last reelected in 2024 with about 63% of the vote, according to election results from the Ohio Secretary of State.

Davidson serves on the House Financial Services Committee. Prior to his time in Congress, he owned and operate multiple manufacturing companies in Ohio, according to his congressional biography.

He enlisted in the Army after high school and then studied American history and mechanical engineering at West Point. He served as an officer in The Old Guard, the 75th Ranger Regiment and the 101st Airborne Division. He has a master's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame, according to his campaign website.

He lives in Troy with his wife and has two adult children.

Who is Vanessa Enoch?

This is Vanessa Enoch's fifth time running for Congress. She said on her website that she supports "responsible gun laws" and paid sick and family leave for employees.

She runs a consulting business, Cultural Impact, LLC, and lives in West Chester.

Enoch was raised in Portsmouth and Colerain Township. She has a bachelor's degree from Ohio State University, a master's degree from Xavier University and a doctorate in public policy and social change from Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, according to her campaign website.

Enoch is widowed and has two daughters and a granddaughter.
