Bynum, Adair headed for November showdown for Oregon's 5th Congressional District
Rep. Janelle Bynum will defend her seat in Congress against Deschutes County Commissioner Patti Adair in the November general election.
BEND, Ore. -- Rep. Janelle Bynum and Deschutes County Commissioner Patti Adair appear headed for a November showdown for the U.S. House seat from Oregon's 5th District.
Bynum, the incumbent, won the Democratic nomination over challenger Zeva Rosenbaum. Adair was leading Jonathan Lockwood by more than 20% of the vote Tuesday night.
“I’m grateful for the trust that voters have placed in me once again, but I’m not taking a victory lap on tonight's results – my focus remains on the general,” Bynum said in a statement Tuesday. “The job continues tomorrow morning. Families are still dealing with rising costs, our democracy is still under attack, and Republicans are always willing to put good money behind a bad candidate. On to November.”
