(The Center Square) – U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, R-1st District, continues to outraise his Democratic challenger Bob Harvie, but spent more money than all of the candidates running for Congress in Pennsylvania during the third quarter.

From the beginning of July to the end of September, Fitzpatrick’s campaign spent $5 million, according to campaign finance reports released on Thursday. Harvie, who serves as a Bucks County commissioner, spent just over $960,000 during that same time period. Harvie’s total spent over the last three months was the ninth most among congressional candidates in Pennsylvania.

Fitzpatrick’s campaign has spent $9.9 million throughout the 2026 election cycle, the most among Keystone State congressional candidates. The next closest candidate to Fitzpatrick’s total spend number for the 2026 campaign is Democrat Janelle Stelson’s $6.3 million spent for her bid in the state’s 10th U.S. House District.

Harvie, on the other hand, has spent $2.17 million since launching his candidacy for the seat in April 2025. Harvie’s total spending throughout the 2026 campaign is the 12th-highest among congressional candidates in Pennsylvania and the lowest among those running in battleground districts.

The $12.1 million spent by Fitzpatrick and Harvie throughout the 2026 campaign is the highest among all races in Pennsylvania this cycle.

Fitzpatrick entered July with the largest war chest, but that has significantly dwindled over the last three months. At the beginning of July, Fitzpatrick’s campaign had $6.35 million in his campaign’s bank account, while Harvie’s campaign began the month with just under $795,000.

Entering October, Fitzpatrick’s campaign had $2.38 million on hand, while Harvie had just over $720,000.

At this point in the previous cycle, Fitzpatrick had a larger cash advantage. In October 2024, his campaign had $4.51 million on hand, while Democratic challenger Ashley Ehasz had just over $910,000.

However, Fitzpatrick continues to outraise his opponent this cycle. His campaign raised $1.03 million from the beginning of July to the end of September, while Harvie’s campaign raised just under $890,000.

Fitzpatrick is the only Republican running in a battleground district to outraise his Democratic challenger during the third quarter.

Since winning his bid for a fifth term in 2024, Fitzpatrick’s campaign has raised $7.81 million, the second highest among congressional candidates in Pennsylvania. Stelson’s $8.69 million raised is the only amount higher than Fitzpatrick’s total. Harvie’s campaign has raised $2.89 million since he announced his bid for the seat in April 2025, which is the tenth highest among Pennsylvania congressional candidates.

Pennsylvania’s 1st U.S. House District, located in the suburbs north of Philadelphia, is widely viewed as a purple region. In 2024, Fitzpatrick won his bid for reelection by double digits, while Vice President Kamala Harris narrowly carried these boundaries over President Donald Trump.

While Fitzpatrick is viewed as the favorite to earn a sixth term in the U.S. House, the 2026 race appears to be tightening, according to a trio of national ratings outlets.

The Cook Political Report, Inside Elections, and Sabato’s Crystal Ball describe the race as “Leans Republican.”

Fitzpatrick is the only Republican in the Keystone State, and just one of three nationwide, to represent a district Harris won over Trump in 2024.

While Trump has issued endorsements for multiple Republicans in battleground districts, he has not announced his support for Fitzpatrick’s reelection bid.

Gov. Josh Shapiro, who is seeking a second term in office this November, is backing Harvie’s bid and has held multiple rallies in the district over the past month.
