Just days after Andrew Tupone secured a spot on the ballot in Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District, his candidacy is facing a legal challenge.

The Pennsylvania Green Party has filed a petition in Commonwealth Court seeking to remove Tupone from the ballot, arguing he is not an endorsed Green Party candidate and improperly used the party's name to qualify for the race.

Party leaders say he never went through their vetting process and does not represent the values of the organization.

The district includes Lehigh, Northampton and Carbon counties, along with part of Monroe County.

He and Democrat Bob Brooks are challenging incumbent Republican Ryan Mackenzie.

He has previously acknowledged that the Green Party hasn't endorsed him.
