Yes, Pennsylvania truly is “America’s Swing State.”

Every four years, the eyes of the nation turn to William Penn’s creation for how 9.2 million registered voters will cast their ballot for the presidency.

And every even-numbered year, the eyes of the political elite turn to the Commonwealth to see how a smaller subsection of those residents will cast their vote for Congress.

In 2026, control of the U.S. House of Representatives could be determined by 3-4 seats in Pennsylvania alone. And now three of those four contests are in the “toss-up” category.

On Thursday morning, “Sabato’s Crystal Ball” from the Center for Politics at the University of Virginia moved the 8th Congressional District contest in the state from “Leans Republican” to “Toss-Up,” showing how tight the race has become between incumbent Republican Rob Bresnahan and Democratic challenger Paige Cognetti.
