LEXINGTON — A Democratic nominee has been decided for South Carolina’s 2nd Congressional District held for more than two decades by Rep. Joe Wilson.
Democrats returned to the polls on June 23 for a runoff election between former University of South Carolina athlete and attorney Zyon Khalifa and David Robinson II, a disabled U.S. Army combat veteran.
Khalifa prevailed, finishing with 53.8 percent of the nearly 5,700 votes that were cast.
The Air Force veteran and 2023 USC grad said he believes there are benefits to being a younger public servant, including new ideas, energy and practicality.
