Shaun Finnie told the Kingwood Area Democrats’ Fourth of July gathering that he entered politics because he could no longer watch Congress surrender its independence and operate as a rubber stamp for presidential power. Drawing on three decades in investment banking, Finnie presented himself as a pragmatic Democrat focused on household economics, affordable healthcare, public education, reproductive freedom, and bipartisan problem-solving. He contrasted those priorities with Republican nominee Steve Toth’s fixation on ideological and cultural conflicts that neither lower costs nor improve daily life.
