Chris Gober wins GOP Primary for Congressman Michael McCaul's Seat

The crowded Congressional District (CD) 10 GOP primary race was won on Tuesday night by Chris Gober, who will face Democratic candidate Caitlin Rourk after she claimed her party’s nomination.

According to The Texan’s Texas Partisan Index, CD 10 sits solidly Republican at R-62%. The district spans across 13 counties and is home to both rural and metropolitan areas, including College Station, Bryan, and parts of Austin.

The race saw 13 total candidates, 10 of whom were Republicans. Gober totalled 51.25 percent of votes while Ben Bius, who trailed behind him, totalled 13.96 percent of votes, according to the Texas Secretary of State as of Wednesday morning.

Rob Altman saw 7.54 percent of the 74,947 votes in the district and Jessica Karlsruher saw 7.11 percent.

Gober was the longstanding funding leader in the CD 10 race, but in the most recent reporting period, he was outraised by Bius, who took in $306,050 compared to Gober’s $105,523. Bius’ cash on hand was also higher, with $299,483.42 …
