U.S. Rep. Randy Weber on Wednesday announced more than $2 million in proposed federal funding for three Southeast Texas projects after the Fiscal Year 2027 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies Appropriations Act advanced out of the full House Appropriations Committee.
The legislation includes more than $1 million for Texas A&M University at Galveston’s Disaster Resilient Texas initiative, which aims to improve online disaster risk assessment and communication tools for Gulf Coast communities vulnerable to hurricanes and flooding.
The bill also allocates $500,000 for University of Texas Medical Branch’s New Approach Methodologies Repository and Shared-Service Center to support biomedical research and scientific collaboration, along with another $500,000 for the city of Beaumont to upgrade public safety technology and infrastructure.
