Tom Sell Wins Republican Nomination for West Texas Congressional District

Tom Sell prevailed over Abraham Enriquez during the runoff election for the Republican nomination for Texas Congressional District 19.

The West Texas region’s incumbent, Congressman Jodey Arrington (R-TX-19), will step down after the completion of his current term. Sell will face Democrat Kyle Rable in the general election in November.

According to The Texan’s Texas Partisan Index, the congressional district has a solidly Republican rating of R-78%. The district claims the upper midwestern part of the state, and is home to cities Lubbock, Abilene, and Odessa.The district’s industries are energy and agriculture dominant, with cotton crops and renewable energy sources like wind energy financing the region.

Sell beat out Enriquez by a total of nearly 30 points, claiming 64.81 percent of the votes compared to Enriquez’s 35.19 percent as of 7:45 pm CST.
