Congressional candidate Trever Nehls to get up to $100K to serve as chief of staff for interim county judge
Nehls, who is running for Texas’ 22nd Congressional District, will be paid $13,380 per month to work for fellow Republican Daniel Wong, a Fort Bend County judge candidate who was appointed to the position on an interim basis.
Fort Bend County commissioners last week approved paying consulting fees up to $100,000 for congressional candidate Trever Nehls, who is serving as chief of staff for interim County Judge Daniel Wong.
The move prompted debate about court oversight of hiring decisions and the spending of taxpayer money.
Wong appointed Nehls, a former Fort Bend County constable and the Republican nominee for Texas' 22nd Congressional District, centered in both Fort Bend and Brazoria counties near Houston. Nehls is running to replace his twin brother, Troy Nehls, who is retiring after serving three terms in Congress.
