Cuellar responds after Trump shares identical January post critical of him
U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar responded after President Donald Trump published a new social media post that was identical to one he first published in January criticizing the Laredo Democrat and endorsing Republican Tano Tijerina in the race for Texas’ 28th Congressional District.
Cuellar thanked Trump in a statement for granting him and his wife, Imelda, a full and unconditional presidential pardon last year but sidestepped Trump’s criticism of his reelection bid and endorsement of Tijerina.
“I remain focused on my work for the 28th District of Texas, where border security, bringing costs down and protecting Medicare and Social Security are top priorities,” Cuellar said.
“As I’ve shared, my family and I are forever grateful for the president’s willingness to review the facts and grant the pardon in my weaponized case. We are truly thankful, and we will continue to keep the president and his family in our prayers.”
