Two Democrats who held the same seat are now fighting for another
Former Rep. Colin Allred is projected to win his race against U.S. Rep. Julie Johnson for Texas's 33rd District.
NBC News called the race for Allred just before 10 p.m., with about 65% of the vote tallied. The call came not long after Allred spoke to a room full of supporters, telling them that the race was not over and votes were still being counted.
With the race called in his favor, Allred said he was ready to fight for the people living in the gerrymandered district.

“Tonight, North Texas sent a clear message: we will not be silenced, we will not be erased, and we will not back down.
