Shelly deZevallos over Trump-endorsed Jon Bonck for US House District 38 runoff
Shelly deZevallos and Jon Bonck are the last two candidates standing out of what was once an unruly field of ten Republicans.
In a midterm election season that looks difficult for Republicans, it’s understandable why the 38th District became such a dogfight. The district was drawn with surgical precision along the western portion of Houston and Harris County to be safe Republican territory. The incumbent, U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt, won each of his last two races by more than 25 percentage points before running unsuccessfully for Senate this year.
