SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — U.S. Rep. Blake Moore defeated a challenge from Utah state Rep. Karianne Lisonbee in Utah's Republican primary Tuesday, overcoming what was at times a contentious campaign in Utah’s Second Congressional District.
The Associated Press called the race Tuesday night.
Speaking from Washington after the race was called, Moore thanked supporters and campaign staff for delivering what he described as a decisive victory.
"It's exciting. It's always great to have election night come and go," Moore said. "My team is amazing. They just put in a ton of work. You never know how these things are going to play out, and we had a really awesome victory tonight."
Moore said his campaign's internal polling closely matched the results and argued voters rejected attacks leveled against him during the race.
