Virginia Democrat bought second home outside of her congressional district
Ex-Virginia Democratic Rep. Elaine Luria promised constituents more than four years ago that she planned on relocating to the state’s 2nd Congressional District, where the former Democratic congresswoman is running again in 2026, after an earlier census-triggered redistricting cycle placed her primary residence outside its borders.
But a Washington Examiner review of city property records reveal that Luria still does not live in the district she wants to represent and has since bought a second home beyond district bounds.
In 2022, Luria assured voters that she would be “working out the logistics” to move into a house she claimed to own in Virginia Beach because her Norfolk home was drawn out of the then-newly configured 2nd Congressional District.
Luria’s redrawn district, which pulled in all of Virginia Beach, now abuts nearby Norfolk, while the state’s 3rd Congressional District absorbed Norfolk entirely. Today, the ousted two-term U.S. representative, who is vying this year to recla…
