Virginia’s primaries are Aug. 4. Early in-person voting began June 18 and runs through Aug. 1.
The 2026 Virginian-Pilot and Daily Press primary election guide contains Q&As with candidates running in contested races for two U.S. House districts representing parts of Hampton Roads and one of Virginia’s U.S. Senate seats. The primary winners will run in the general election on Nov. 3. Only races with contested primaries are included in this primary election guide. Information about candidates running in the general election will be published at a later time.
All candidates in contested races were invited to complete the voter guide questionnaire. Those who did not respond are noted.
