Cline, Macy face off in Virginia’s 6th Congressional District race
Va. (WSET) — The race for Virginia’s 6th Congressional District is taking shape as Republican Rep. Ben Cline seeks another term and Democrat Beth Macy looks to unseat him in November.
Cline, who has represented the district since 2018, is running for reelection. Macy, a Roanoke author, is making her first run for political office.
With the election approaching, both candidates say they are focused on listening to residents and addressing the concerns they hear on the campaign trail.
For Macy, one of those concerns comes down to a single word: affordability.
She says families are struggling to keep up with the rising cost of everyday essentials, including food.
“Food stamps have been cut; they've gotten harder to re-up,” Macy said.
Macy pointed to a recent visit to a food pantry in Fincastle as an example of what she says she is seeing across the district.
