Rep. Suhas Subramanyam, D-Va., said Thursday that he is interested in pursuing federal funding for Sperryville’s wastewater system after touring the treatment plant and hearing from local officials about its future infrastructure needs.
“I would love to help. I'm interested in exploring what federal funding we can get to the plant,” Subramanyam told the Rappahannock News after the tour. “I know between the recent storm that destroyed the fencing and two of their trucks, and the upgrades that they're trying to make, that it's a difficult time financially right now.”
Subramanyam visited the plant following a reelection campaign stop at Before & After cafe in Sperryville. He said similar infrastructure projects elsewhere in his district have received federal funding, making him optimistic that Sperryville could compete for assistance.
