Gluesenkamp Perez, Braun advance to November in Washington's 3rd US House District primary

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KATU) — Democratic Incumbent Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican John Braun will face off in November’s general election in Washington’s 3rd congressional district.

The two had a commanding lead Tuesday night in the state's top-two primary, with each having 39% of the vote in a race that contained nine candidates.

The 3rd congressional district is considered one of a handful of competitive House seats that could help determine which party controls Congress after the November election. Right now, Republicans have a six-seat majority over Democrats in the House, 218-212.

In her celebration speech, Gluesenkamp Perez was quick to attack Trump's endorsement of Braun.

"Senator Braun has sold out his reputation for an endorsement from Donald Trump," she said. "And he is going to work for Donald Trump. I've never been confused about who I work for, or who sent me to D.C."
