Van Orden hosts sportsmen event while campaigning in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE — With the November election drawing near, candidates for Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District are continuing to hit the campaign trail.
On Saturday, Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Prairie du Chien) visited Eau Claire for a sportsmen event talking about the Second Amendment, hunting and more. Van Orden said Wisconsinites are people who love the outdoors.
“We’re here to celebrate the fact that we have the freedom to come to a range, and we get to exercise our Second Amendment rights together,” he said.
“Rebecca Cooke, who I’m running against, has been recorded saying that she wants to remove M4s. It’s the most popular sporting rifle in the entire country, and she wants to get rid of it. That is a direct infringement on the Second Amendment, and our folks do not want that.”
